Every morning I wake up before the sun rises and prepare myself mentally and spiritually for another day inside this cage. Over the years I have found that this is the only time that I can truly focus before the other around me arrive and the chaotic sounds of prison life interrupted my moment of peace. In the silence I wonder what my life would be like if I was free. Would I have gone to college or fell in love and had children who knows but what I do know is that my time in this place is only temporary and I must use it to prepare myself for a life beyond these barb wires and gun towers. When I was free I look at the world through the eyes of an adolescence but now that I’m a man and thinking like a man my view of the world has changed. I realized I need people in my life willing to share their experiences of life with me so that I can set realistic and reasonable goals and plans for my future. I understand that it is difficult to get to know someone through mail and 15 minute calls but not at all impossible if giving the opportunity. I am truly an open book willing to share my experience and hope of making a connection with someone that will accept me for who I am. Im like a wild flower growing through the cracks in the concrete.
